‘Becoming Your True Self’
Newsletter 1
Hi Everyone
Thanks for joining the Saturday Seminars ‘Becoming Your True Self’ group.
The course draws on the timeless teachings that through the ages teach the same core truths and practices. For what? To enable us to move from a self defined by …. (well you tell me) – to your higher True Self.
We have run a similar group for four years on Wednesday mornings – and through earlier decades! Judged by our Wednesday daytime group you can expect lots of laughter as well as great spiritual dialogue and insights. This group is (mainly) for those who work Mon – Fri.
The probable venue is the Friends Meeting House in Brighton – but very unusually they have closed the rooms one of which we are likely to use because of building work for August so I am told. They should be ready in time for a start in September but if you know of not too expensive alternative venues close to central Brighton please let me know.
I am still putting the finishing touches to the latest version of the ‘Becoming Your True Self’ course but MeetUp are rather bossy and they decided to release the current draft without asking me – which is why you are getting a rather long thank-you letter!
Since I don’t know when we will be free to start at the Friends Meeting House the most important thing is to suggest how you might make a start – right now.
MAKING A START – RIGHT NOW
You might like to express in some (creative) form, such as writing, what you see as some of the turning points on your journey so far – here is the redoubtable, much-liked, Paddy from our Wednesday group in a short interview – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-oT9HzhbrQ
IF YOU ARE NOT MUCH OF A READER – don’t worry, I supply all necessary materials.
ONLINE – you might like to have a look at Joan Tollifson http://www.joantollifson.com/waking.html
Joan has had a rougher ride than many of us and has come out as a brilliant, empathic communicator of ‘the simplicity of what is.’
IF YOU ARE A READER……
Want a stunning book hot off the press? – here it is This one is by William Keepin and is HERE – https://www.amazon.co.uk/Belonging-God-Spirituality-Science-Universal-ebook/dp/1594736219/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1470292294&sr=1-1&keywords=william+keepin
Want another brilliant book. This one is by John Greer – HERE – https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seeing-Knowing-Being-Sacred-Awakenings/dp/0615521835/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1470296090&sr=1-1&keywords=john+greer+knowing
Over the four years of the foundation One Garden group the members have been introduced to a range of outstanding teachers. However the teacher who seems to have the widest, enduring, deep, respect is Eckhart Tolle so if you haven’t read The Power of Now, A New Earth and Stillness Speaks you are in for a treat. – https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_4?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=eckhart+tolle&sprefix=toll%2Caps%2C167
In some respects Stillness Speak is Tolle’s masterpiece
YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE EXPENSES OF RUNNING THE COURSE
If you are well-off please pay more. If you are on a seriously low income talk to me.
The first seminar which will be an overview, and for me to learn more about your priorities will cost £10.00. – this makes the course 11 weeks in total.
After that you can get all 10 sessions for half-price by paying in advance – in September – first come first served!
I am not of the order of Tolle or Raymond Blanc, in the world of cookery, but neither does it cost what they cost. Example – cookery in 2014 HERE – http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/foodanddrinkadvice/10969011/Top-10-cookery-schools.html
My courses represent outstanding value!
Why don’t you charge for your teaching etc? As a matter of principle I don’t charge for my teaching, research etc
Why? – because it is the line of great teachers to whom I bow very deeply.
We hope we get to know each and all of you
All good wishes
Roger & Marion
PS As I was writing this an email dropped into my inbox from Dr Mercola.
Dr Mercola is hated by drug companies and, probably a large chunk of mainstream medics – he also has about two million visitors to his site every month!
SUMMARY:
‘Gratitude is an affirmation of goodness; when you feel gratitude, you affirm that you live in a benevolent world. It’s also a recognition that the source of this goodness comes from outside of yourself
People who are thankful for what they have are better able to cope with stress, have more positive emotions and less anxiety, sleep better and have better heart health
Your sense of gratitude can be strengthened with practice. Ways to cultivate gratitude include keeping a gratitude journal, prayer, meditation, writing thank you notes and non-verbal actions like smiling and hugging’
The full article is HERE – http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2016/08/04/ways-to-cultivate-gratitude.aspx
The practice of gratitude is a practice that points to ‘Becoming our True Self’!
….and so is smiling more!
