“The Soul doesn’t love….” Patanjali – Quoted by George Harrison on his final album

george_harrison_1974_edited

The soul doesn’t love;

It is love itself.

The Soul doesn’t know.

It is Knowledge  itself;

The Soul doesn’t exist,

It is existence itself.

The two books referred to are – ‘Presence: The Seamless Intimacy Of Experience’ and ‘Presence: The Art Of Peace And Happiness’

Richard Rohr – “God is an event of communion. God is relationality itself. Love is a dynamic, a process.”

Fr. Richard Rohr introduces the Love that goes far beyond infatuation and invites our full participation and surrender. In his words,

“God is an event of communion.

God is relationality itself.

Love is a dynamic, a process.”

Love is an infinite, inclusive flow of giving and receiving.

Love is the breath of the Holy Spirit inspired into the human spirit! – Abdu’l-Baha

Upon waking each day My first words to my heart always are “Tell me all your news of Love.” – Hafiz

Upon waking each day
My first words to my heart always are
“Tell me all your news of Love.”

Hafiz

We are a couple of barroom sailors

I wake from a nap
And the same clear words greet my mind
That I say every day upon waking,

“Where can I find the Friend?”

I eat and dress and labor
For only one reason.

But why explain about the essential today
And demean the holy?

We are a couple of barroom sailors,
Marooned,

In need of good drink and fine company
To true our perceptions.

Otherwise,
I get a tad concerned about that odd look
That sometimes creeps into your eyes–

That seems to mistake me for a pretty,
Available mermaid.

Upon waking each day
My first words to my heart always are

“Tell me all your news of
Love.”

SPIRITUAL QUOTES like sherbet sweets that suddenly release their fizzy deliciousness!

SPIRITUAL QUOTES like sherbet sweets that suddenly release their fizzy deliciousness!

I like short quotations, one-liners, because, if you are ready for them, they explode in your consciousness like the best haiku – or a sherbet sweet that suddenly releases its fizzy deliciousness. They provide an ‘aha’ insight, a minimal increment in enlightenment.

EXAMPLES of INTER-SPIRITUAL ‘POINTERS’ mainly one-liners

AWARENESS: “Awareness of the divine begins with wonder. It is the result of what man does with his higher incomprehension.” – A J Heschel (1959 p. 41)

STILLNESS & movement – “Be still like a mountain and flow like a great river.” Lao Tse

GOD: “God is a circle whose centre is everywhere, whose circumference is nowhere.” Empedocles

CONCEPTS: “Concepts are delicious snacks with which we try to alleviate our amazement.” Heschel

KINDNESS: “My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.” – The Dalai Lama

PURITY – kindness, radiance – “Possess a pure kindly & radiant heart…” – Baha’u’llah

LOVE – “God Is Love.” (I John 4:8)

REASON – “The worship of reason is arrogance and betrays a lack of intelligence. The rejection of reason is cowardice and betrays a lack of faith. – Abraham Joshua Heschel

INSIGHT/SATORI: A lightning flash:/ between the forest trees I have seen water. Shiki Masaoka

VOID Don’t contemplate as mere activity/Be void contemplating void p221 365 Tao D Ming-Dao

WORLD CITIZEN – Socrates – “I am not an Athenian or a Greek, but a citizen of the world.”

Love abounds in all things, excels from the depths to beyond the stars, is lovingly disposed to all things. She has given the king on high the kiss of peace.
