Enlightened Spirituality – http://www.enlightened-spirituality.org/
A brilliant site by Timothy Conway – you will get a sense from this;
“Begun in September 2006, this wide-ranging website has over 110 original essays (some short, some book-length, around 2,200 printed pages of total material) and several dozen photos and sacred images for viewing, with no bothersome ads and only one commercial webpage (for our Wake Up Press). To help new and returning visitors search for specific names or topics, we’ve added a Google search box for this entire website:…………………..
Explore one of the Internet’s most extensive websites on truly healthy and enlightened Spirituality, awakening to Absolute Awareness, a profoundly nondual theology of God, the lives and teachings of sages and saints, and many articles on our mystical traditions, world religions, powers of Consciousness, emotional healing, styles of meditation, sacred relationships, conscious dying into Eternal life, spiritualized politics, wonders of science, spiritual humor, and more.
Here you can always remember to breathe more fully, love everyone more deeply, and relax more easily into/as the Divine One who is the Light and Truth of WHO WE REALLY ARE.
Is it really possible to live an enlightened life of all-embracing love, compassionate service, and actual freedom from binding ego-tendencies? Can one live spontaneously yet intelligently from the sublime fragrance of real wholesomeness and bountiful generosity? Can one, in short, awaken from the ultimately miserable “me”-dream to the inspired grandeur of Divine Awakening?
The answer to each of these questions is YES…………………………..”

Vita for Timothy Conway
“This Timothy Conway fellow is a story within a dream… A mere, mortal figment pointing you back to the immortal Divine Dreamer, Your Real Self, the One Who Alone IS.
After a sudden, vivid, and completely life-changing spiritual awakening in my 16th year in February 1971, occurring not by efforts or drugs (never took any drugs), but entirely by Divine Grace, an exploding open of the heart-mind with the nondual realization that “God alone is Real, HERE and NOW, and we—the personified manifestations of God— are all truly made of Divine Spirit, Love, Joy, and Peace”—this life has been gratefully devoted ever since then to freely sharing, with anyone sincerely interested, the profoundly healing and empowering truth of Infinite Open Awareness, the “real Reality” right HERE (closer than the mind), and right NOW (always the true Reality before you can even think about this Self).
Raised by loving parents within the Roman Catholic tradition and taught by progressive Catholic sisters and priests in Los Angeles, after that life-changing (and ongoing) opening to Spirit i came out of my absorption in athletics and nearly became a priest. Then, in Fall 1972, while attending the University of California at Santa Cruz, i was introduced by a highly-psychic western sage to the path of “Who Am I?” transpersonal Self-inquiry, and urged to make a deep study of the Advaita Vedanta sage Ramana Maharshi and other sages of Advaita, Zen Buddhism, and similar genuine paths of awakening East and West.
With years of further immersion in this Great Way of nondual or mystical spirituality, in Fall 1980 there occurred the first of several long trips to Asia and Europe (and various parts of the USA) to meet and learn from many of the leading sages, saints and adepts of our era. After spending a brief time as an ordained Buddhist monk in upper Burma under the renowned arhat (perfect master) Taungpulu Sayadaw, India and her greatest living sages beckoned… and through their influence (Divine Grace), any last questions or confusions dropped. Very soon during that winter of 1980-1, i was encouraged to begin sharing the nondual or advaita spiritual perspective by sage Annamalai Swami (a spiritual son of Ramana Maharshi) and by the great liberated guru Nisargadatta Maharaj of Bombay, and by several other sages, including Yogi Ramsuratkumar of Tiruvannamalai and Mother Krishnabai of Anandashram………………………..”

The Science of Happiness: Why complaining is literally killing you
By Steven Parton, From CuriousApes.com
Sometimes in life, all the experience and knowledge simmering around in that ol’ consciousness of ours combines itself in a way that suddenly causes the cerebral clockwork to click into place, and in this fluid flow of thought we find an epiphany rising to the surface……….
……..I found myself resolute with rational reasons for optimism and for removing from my life the people who liked to complain.

One of the Baha’i Hidden Words says;
In the garden of thy heart plant naught but the rose of love, and from the nightingale of affection and desire loosen not thy hold. Treasure the companionship of the righteous and eschew all fellowship with the ungodly.
and in another Hidden Word we have;
O SON OF DUST! Beware! Walk not with the ungodly and seek not fellowship with him, for such companionship turneth the radiance of the heart into infernal fire. PHW 57
RP Perhaps ‘ungodly’ includes avoiding the toxic nature of continuous negativity. If so shielding ourselves and our children from too much negativity via the media must also be a good idea!
What is the Sound of a Single Hand?
When you clap together both hands a sharp sound is heard; when you raise the one hand there is neither sound nor smell…
If conceptions and discriminations are not mixed within it and it is quite apart from seeing, hearing, perceiving, and knowing, and if while walking, standing, sitting, and reclining, you proceed straightforwardly without interruption in the study of this koan, then in the place where reason is exhausted and words are ended, you will suddenly pluck out the karmic root of birth and death and break down the cave of ignorance.
Hakuin’s own explanation, as translated by Phillip Yampolksy in The Zen Master Hakuin: Selected Writings, pg. 164
RP I particularly like the phrase ‘breakdown of the cave of ignorance’. Of course we are inevitably reminded of Plato’s allegory of the Cave – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegory_of_the_Cave
I recall that in one of his early books Guy Claxton refers to a Zen teacher who asked why Westerners go East in their spiritual search when what is to be found lies in our ancient teachers, such as Plato.
Of course it is delicious and delightful to juxtapose teachings from East and West!
